May 2017

May has arrived along with the rain..... But we won't let this stop us enjoying ourselves. We went on a boat trip down the Medway River and despite the rain, we enjoyed a sing along, some tasty food prepared by Kyveli and coffee and tea served to us by the crew.

We will be booking another trip during June  - hopefully the rain will have gone by then!!

A few of us popped in to 'The Twig & Spoon' Restaurant at Woodlands Garden Centre for lunch.  A lovely place to visit; we sat outside and enjoyed a ploughman lunch, a glass of wine and ice cream.  Well worth a visit. A delightful Garden Centre with lots on offer including lovely food, great ice-cream and cakes.

Oscar the Guinea Pig - our resident pet, has settled in well and has been familiarising himself with our residents.    See our photo gallery for some cute photos of Oscar meeting our Residents.

We are hoping to get out into the garden to spruce up the boarders and plant some fruit bushes this year.  There's nothing better than eating home grown produce.

Upcoming events in May / June

Motivation will be visiting us again.

Music for Health - a morning session of movement to music.

Boat Trip - Meandering down the River Medway with a picnic.

June - Annual Summer Fete - lots of stalls and fun things are being planned, along with the return of the Fairby Cake Bake Off.

April 2017

HAPPY EASTER !!

Easter was full of chocolates eggs!!  Our raffle raised a fantastic £62.  Thank you to everyone who donated Eggs and Chocolate Animals.  All money raised goes towards our Residents' Fund for future events and outings.

During April we had visits from Music for Health - where Lynn created exercise to music for us all in the lounge. Also, Motivation visited us -  who played quizzes, movement to music and singing.  A great time was had by all.

Tuesday 18th - Wild Science made a return visit with some beautiful Furry Animals.  We held Chinchillas, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs and 3 week old Chicks.  The afternoon was informative, leanring about the various animals and also very relaxing being able to touch and hold them.  See our gallery and video section for more details.  Wild Science will be visiting us again in October 2017 for A Halloween themed afternoon of snakes, reptiles and snails.

We are looking forward for the warmer months where we can get out into the garden to plant some vegetables and plants.

Future Events

13th June - Ducklings are arriving at Fairby.  We will incubate the eggs, see them hatch and care for the ducklings for approximately 8 days.

March 2017

March was full of singing, dancing and afternoon teas.  We had a lovely Tea Party for Vera Lynn's Birthday and we sang all her famous songs in the dining room.  Everyone joined in and had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

Music for Health visited us again - which helped us work off all that cake!  We will see Music for Health again in April.

We have found a new Tea Shop which is located just up the road from us - The Black Lion.  This is great for short trips out for a cup of tea or coffee.

Our residents have been busy making Easter decorations for our Easter Tree located in the Reception.

Thank you to everyone who have donated Easter Eggs, these will go into our raffle which will be drawn on 17th April 2017.
