January/February 2025

We’ve been keeping ourselves busy indoors during the colder months by decorating the home ready for Valentines. We had a Saxophonist entertain us on the day where we got up and danced. We thoroughly enjoyed listening to him play - very talented indeed.

During February we popped along for our monthly visit to Red Libbets Golf Club where we play games, quizzes and of course enjoy coffee and biscuits.

We missed out on winning the Quiz trophey this month. The Hollies beat us by a few points. Better luck next month Fairby. We still enjoy getting out and chatting with our friends at The Hollies though.

We had a lovely young lady on a weeks placement during February who got involved with activities and getting to know our residents. She thoroughtly enjoyed her time with us and said she will be coming back to see us in her school holidays.

We’ve already celebrated 2 birthdays so far, including our lovely Anthony being 95 this year.

Our monthly visit from Tiny Tigers Pre-School is always a real treat for us. We got our Interactive Table out for them to play on. They bring so much fun to the home and we love having them here with us.

November / December 2024

We had a busy few months at Fairby preparing for Christmas.

We started off November by visiting Kenward Trust in Yalding for a lovely afternoon tea. We have visited Kenward Trust many times over the years to see their Alpacas there before having lunch. As you can see from the pictures, the afternoon tea was beautifully presented and very tasty indeed. We shall be returning in the spring to see the alpacas and goats.

As usual we had some Christmas Party invites from our local secondary school in Longfield and our regular tuesday club in New Ash Green.

Some children from the SENCO put on a lovely spread for us and also played games and sang to us. We really look forward to our yearly invite and are very lucky to have this connection with the school.

Our Tuesday club always make us feel special at their events; putting our table near the front so we can all jump up for a dance. We enjoyed lovely homemade cakes, sandwiches and drinks.

Each year the local Beaver Club visit us at Christmas time to sing Carols, which we thoroughly enjoy. The children are always so well behaved and they also pop in to some bedrooms and sing to residents who are in their beds. Some residents spent the morning making the children Christmas cards for them to take home to their parents.

Our Christmas party this year was a little quieter than usual, but this didn’t stop us having a good time. We were entertained by a singer and we all had a dance, mince pies, mulled wine and raised some money from the raffle. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend.

Each year Mel, our lovely Manager likes to cook a Staff Christmas Breakfast. This year Mel was helped by Bev and between them dished up 14 full english breakfasts. Well done ladies…. Afterwards staff entertained our residents with a few Christmas Carols - see our video page for a few clips of us singing. We all had such a fun time singing in our own little way. Residents loved it too, which makes it all worth while.

Residents helped put up our Christmas Tree in the lounge and did a tremendous job in making it look lovely and festive. Everyone opened their Christmas presents on Christmas Day and enjoyed a lovely lunch. What a lovley way to spend the day, with loved ones, friends and family. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

October 2024

One of our Senior Carers Jo, organised a Cake and Coffee morning to help raise funds for Breast Cancer. We enjoyed some lovely homemade cakes and raised a huge £140 for the morning. Well done Jo and thank you for making the effort.

For Halloween this year, we made pumpkin and bat decorations and put them up around the home to scare everyone.

We have had a lovely afternoon singing and dancing with Ian Gallagher, who certainly had an eye for the ladies.

We continue our monthly quiz with The Hollies…..I am pleased to say we won this month. Well done Team Fairby - you clever clogs. Keep up the hard work. A* for your efforts.

Some of us went Tenpin bowling in Rochester and had a lovely time. A good healthy amount of competitiveness amongst residents was observed. Everyone deserved a drink and burger after all the hard playing.

Our monthly visit from ‘Tiny Tigers’ is always a real treat for us. It’s lovely to see the little ones playing in the lounge and we all join in with their singing and games.
