October 2024

One of our Senior Carers Jo, organised a Cake and Coffee morning to help raise funds for Breast Cancer. We enjoyed some lovely homemade cakes and raised a huge £140 for the morning. Well done Jo and thank you for making the effort.

For Halloween this year, we made pumpkin and bat decorations and put them up around the home to scare everyone.

We have had a lovely afternoon singing and dancing with Ian Gallagher, who certainly had an eye for the ladies.

We continue our monthly quiz with The Hollies…..I am pleased to say we won this month. Well done Team Fairby - you clever clogs. Keep up the hard work. A* for your efforts.

Some of us went Tenpin bowling in Rochester and had a lovely time. A good healthy amount of competitiveness amongst residents was observed. Everyone deserved a drink and burger after all the hard playing.

Our monthly visit from ‘Tiny Tigers’ is always a real treat for us. It’s lovely to see the little ones playing in the lounge and we all join in with their singing and games.

August - September 2024

It’s been all go at Fairby just lately. We have had a full kitchen refurb and new boilers.

During the 2 week kitchen refurbishment, we created a pop-up kitchen in our snug area to continue as usual. Everyone pulled together to make this work and actually we quite enjoyed the change and challenge that came with it.

Our new kitchen is sparkling with new wall cladding, new flooring and new induction hob and other appliances. Cooks are thrilled with the outcome and have been dishing up their usual culinary delights.

You may have seen a lot of scaffold on the outside of Fairby for a while. We have had lots of roof, chimney and windowsill repairs, which should be over shortly. Thankfully the weather has held out for the chaps to get their work complete before the cold snap really sets in.

We have celebrated a fair few birthdays throughout the last 3 months, including one 90 and 99 year milestones.

July 2024

Where has the sun gone !!! Summer is not quite here yet but, it hasn’t stopped us from going out and enjoying our garden. We’ve managed to grow some lovely flowers in our planter which are thriving in this weather. We sit and watch our fish swimming around the pond.

We went on another Boat trip where some of us went out to help with the locks and steer the boat. Those who steered the boat were awarded a certificate by Debbie the Skipper. We spotted cormorants dipping into the river to catch fish, 2 Kingfisher birds and a heron. Such a relaxing day out on the river.

Our Summer Fete this year is to be held on Saturday 27th July. Preparations are underway, selling raffle tickets and putting stickers on bottles for the tombola stall.

Later on in the year, one of our staff is holding an ‘Afternoon Tea’ for our residents and 2 members of their family/friends. This will be a lovely indoor event with plenty of food and an singer to entertain us.
