August 2015

Our Annual Garden Fete was held on Saturday 22nd August, which certainly felt like the hottest day of the year so far!!

We raised a whopping £877 this year, which goes into the Residents' Activity Fund, for them to choose outings and entertainment of their choice.  We were lucky to have plenty of donations for our Raffle which included, Kew Garden tickets, Leeds Castle tickets, a Brewery tour, wine and chocolates.

Bob & Lara's BBQ went down a treat selling burgers and hot dogs and home made cakes for a sweet treat.

Some residents enjoyed a visit to Herne Bay for Fish 'n' Chips - a favourite wish on our 'Wish Tree'.

We held our first 'Miss Fairby Grange' competition this year.  Some residents wished to participate and each resident voted for their favourite.  The clear winner was Marjorie A. with a second runner up Annie W.  The winner was presented a sash, tiara and a bouquet of flowers. See the Gallery section for photos.

Our gardening club is still thriving and after eating our first batch of salad, we have planted even more.

July 2015

So much happening throughout July - an interim news post was needed.

We were entertained with an outstanding performance from 6 very clever dogs, ranging from hoop catching Standard Poodles, sock sorting Yorkshire Terriers and skittle catching Bichon Frise cross Poodle.  An excellent show indeed.  Although I think the residents were more than happy to have the little dogs sitting on their laps.  See the gallery section for photos.

Our 'Wish Tree' is placed in the dining room and residents are hard at work thinking of their ultimate wish.  So far, we've had wishes of Fish 'n' Chips by the coast and to see an 'Irish Dancing' show.  To fulfil these wishes, we have arranged a trip to Herne Bay during August 2015.

Janet, our activity coordinator is arranging a visit to our local Irish Dancing club.

We have been invited to afternoon tea at a local school on Tuesday 14th July, where we will be entertained and given plenty of tea and cakes.  The residents really enjoy being treated to these special treats. Me too!!!

Also, it's full steam ahead with planning our annual Garden Fete which is being held on 22nd August 2015.  Lets hope the weather is kind to us.  We have many stalls planned to make a bumper day of entertainment.

Back by popular demand is Bob & Lara's BBQ!!!  Followed by a selection of home-made cakes. A date not to be missed.

Come back in a couple of weeks to see more goings on at Fairby............

May / June 2015

Now the weather is turning brighter and warmer the Gardening Club at Fairby has begun.  Some residents helped fill the vegetable planter with a whopping 8 bags of compost.

They have planted vegetables such as beetroot, spring onions, lettuce and radishes.  All we have to do now is to look after them.  We are lucky to have some dedicated green fingered residents who love gardening and tendering to these vegetables.  We are all hoping for a bumper stock of produce.  Our cooks are excited to reap the benefits of the residents hard work.

There's nothing quite like eating your own fresh produce straight from the garden!!

We have organised our favourite day trip - A Boat trip with a Picnic.  We have a minibus all set to take us to the River Medway where we will enjoy floating down the river.  Our cooks will prepare a lovely picnic for us to enjoy before heading back home.  A truly enjoyable day.  Fingers crossed the weather stays sunny and warm!!

Our yearly Garden Fete will be held in August this year, and preparations will begin to make it yet another exciting event in our calendar.  An added treat this year to be organised is 'Miss or Mr Fairby Grange'.  Who will the lucky lady or gentleman be??  Make sure you see the photos later on in the year.
