April / May 2021

Although May was a wet and windy month, we still managed to have fun and laughs here at Fairby.

We regularly went out for drives around the beautiful countryside in our minibus and stop for a coffee and cake on board. We like to stop and look at the River Thames at Gravesend or go the the Historic Dockyard in Chatham to look at the harbour.

We have also joined up again with Dimples Children’s nursery for online Zoom meetings, where we get to see and join in with the children’s sing a-long times. We thoroughly love watching the little ones have fun and grow up. We can’t wait for when restrictions ease and they are once again allowed back into the home.

We have some upcoming events in June (hopefully anyway). We are back out on the The Kingfisher boat at Yalding for a cruise down the River Medway. Debbie is now a crew member, so we will see her down there for a coffee and cake.

We have a singer coming to us during June to help celebrate a 90th Birthday. Any excuse to have a party and dance.

During May - we said goodbye to one of our Cooks - Libby. Libby has bought her own cafe just a couple of miles away from us. So, if you get the chance to visit ‘Libby’s Cafe’ in Ash, Libby will be so pleased to see you again and serve you a delicious cake or brunch.

COVID-19 VISITOR UPDATE

As from 12th March 2021, we are opening our doors to two nominated visitors per resident. Please ring the office on 01474 702223 for further details and to book your visiting slot.

We are all so very happy that we are now able to see our loved ones again. Fingers crossed we can continue receiving visitors from now on.

Our fish pond is ready and we collected 3 beautiful koi carp, who are enjoying their new home. We will collect a few more in a few weeks once we are happy that the pond’s water is correct.

February / March 2021

The snow came and went all in the space of a week. Typical British weather. We did think about going outside to build a snowman, but thought better of it as its so very cold.

We have had a few afternoon sing a longs to help keep our spirits high. The odd tipple helps too.

We are planning to reopen our doors in line with government guidance on the 8th March 2021. We are all excited to having visitors in once more - it’s been such a long time not to see relatives. However, we have been using our Facebook portals which has proved to be a great way to communicate with our loved ones.

We are planning to hold a Mother’s Day party on Friday 12th March and have invited all relatives to attend virtually via Zoom. This will be held in the lounge so everyone who wants to join in, can do so.

We are looking forward to getting out and about in our minibus again. Debbie has taken it out for drives to make sure he’s in good working order ready for our trips out.

We are looking to book our yearly boat trips again from May onwards. Debbie is now a volunteer on the boat, so it will be nice to see her down there.

Roll on spring and farewell to COVID ……
