July 2016

July has been a busy month at Fairby.  We went on our annual boat trip, where we leisurely floated down the Medway enjoying tea and cake along the way and taking in the beautiful sitesKent has to offer.

Mel organised her first Summer Fayre too, with a BBQ for residents and their relatives, a raffle, guess the weight of the cake and various other stalls.  All money raised goes towards our Resident Fund.  Well done Mel !!

We had a new singer, 'Miranda' entertain us all - we will certainly be asking Miranda back in the future.  We thoroughly enjoyed her songs.

Lastly, ponies came to visit us in our garden. They loved to be stroked and made a fuss of.

Coming up:

Monday 18th August, we have a pianist coming in to have a sing song.

Saturday 1st October, Mel is organising an Autumn Fayre.

May / June 2016

We've been enjoying the spring sun as much as possible in the garden tendering to our plants and vegetables.

Some residents painted pretty sun catchers which look stunning when the sun shines through. We have been making and decorating biscuits and cup cakes - any excuse to get creative and messy.

Something new to Fairby - we invited 'Bonmarche' clothing company to bring along rails of clothes for resident to purchase if they wish.  Some residents purchased items from a great selection of clothing.  We will be inviting Bonmarche back to view their Winter collection later on in the year.

We are planning ahead for Ascot week by making hats for the occasion.  Mel, our activities lady certainly keeps us all busy. We will be having a special lunch and a singer too (see our Gallery section for photos).

Also during Ascot week, ponies will be visiting Fairby both inside and outside.  Fingers crossed for good weather.

April 2016

During April we celebrated the Queens 90th Birthday in style.  Fairby was decorated with bunting, flags and balloons.  During the morning, we were entertained by 'Tickled Pink', a professional drama group who put on a fantastic show.  We sang along to songs from the 40's, waved flags and even joined in with the dancing.  We thoroughly enjoyed the shows theme and costume changes.

We then had a special 3 course lunch with wine.  We carried on the days events with a lovely afternoon tea of small cakes, scones and cups of tea.  Thank you Mel for all your hard work in making this day a memorable occasion.

Our gardening club is going extremely well.  for Spring, we planted pretty yellow flowers in our hanging baskets at the front door and our vegetable trough is brimming with parsnips ready for our cooks.

We are planning our garden fete for summer and Mel is planning new activities for our residents.
