June 2019

June has been an extremely busy month indeed. Karen, our Manager and Mel, our activities coordinator took 4 residents on a 3 night holiday to Dymchurch. Everyone had a fantastic time. They got out and about in Dymchurch, going on a steam train and some even enjoyed doing chores around the chalet. I think both Karen and Mel were waited upon this time.

No time to rest on their return though, as preparations were underway for our yearly Summer Fete. Our residents each made a ‘Home Made Soap’ to sell to their family on the residents stall. Quite a messy activity, but Fairby smelt like a beauty parlour for days. Each family member brought their relatives soap and all funds raised go into our ‘Residents Fund’. The fete itself raised a fantastic £579.00, again all proceeds go into the Residents Fund. We had music by Jason, BBQ, cake stall, residents stall, tombola and other stalls along with some lovely raffle prizes which were so generously donated by local shops and restaurants. Amongst the prizes were, Alpaca experience for 2 at The Kenward Trust in Yalding, meal for 2 at the White Swan, family tickets to Godstone farm, Nail bar voucher, Golf for 4 at Wrotham Heath Golf club and many more.

Each year we hold a Mr & Mrs Fairby competition. The winners were announced at the summer fete. Mr Fairby went to our lovely Ted and Mrs Fairby to our beautiful Margaret. They both were very proud to wear their crown /tiara and sash. Well done both of you!!

Our garden project is finally underway. We are having a huge Koi Carp pond built into the retaining wall in the rear garden. The patio will be extended to provide more room for everyone to sit and enjoy watching the Koi.

Next month we are off to Millbrook Garden centre to see their ‘Butterfly Experience’. Watch out for the photos soon…
